Pawan Arya,

Dr. Pawan Arya is a medical graduate from a foreign institution and has over 15 year experience of medical Practice in India and has an MBA (Health Care Management) from Phoenix University. He is an accomplished administrator and his forte is operational and financial benchmarking, process redesign and improvement, quality management, and compliance. Dr. Arya is a member of Government Affairs Committee of MGMA, American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC), and Gastroenterology Administration Assembly (GAA). Dr. Arya has a rich and diverse management experience. He is currently an administrator for an Endoscopy Center and the Gastroenterology Group Practice and in the past Dr. Arya has managed a cancer center and a multispecialty group practice.

 

 
Joanne Byron,

Board Chair

Ms. Byron is CEO and founder of the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) and chairperson of the Board of Directors. AIHC was founded after years of consulting and corporate training experience where a consistent trend was found:  most compliance problems were due to the lack of affordable and easy methods for practice managers to learn compliance.  She has developed many of the programs offered through this institute and has served as an instructor for these programs as well. She is affiliated with AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association), ASQ (American Society for Quality), and the MGMA (Medical Group Management Association). As a graduate with honors from St. Augustine Technical Center in 1980 with a diploma in nursing, Joanne continued her education at Lake Erie College in Health Care Administration, obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree through Clayton College, is Certified in Compliance, Auditing, HIPAA, ICD-10, Medical Billing, Collections and Clinical Documentation Improvement.

 
 
Karen Drummond,
CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-I, CHA, OHCC, PCS, FCS, ACS-RA, ACS-OB/GYN, CIBS, CMC, CMBS-I


Board Member 
Ms. Drummond brings over 30 years of experience and multiple coding and billing certifications! She serves on the national board of Advanced Coding Specialists in Radiology and OB/GYN. Karen is a past presenter for the American Academy of Professional Coders and has worked locally and nationally educating physicians and their staff on documentation guidelines and coding concepts. Karen is a CCS and an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Instructor. She is also an American Academy of Professional Coders approved PMCC instructor, who has taught medical billing and coding at Stark State College, Canton City Schools Adult Education, and Portage Lakes Career Center in Ohio. Currently she is a voting member of the AIHC board and has taught several of our coding exam prep and online courses. Karen has worked for two large hospitals teaching the residency program the documentation guidelines as a coding manager and as a practice manager and auditing consultant. She also worked for two years as a coder and auditor for Medicare MAC.
Venkatarama R. Gaddam,

Venkatarama R Gaddam, MD is a cardiologist practicing at Sunrays Cardiology located in Columbus, Ohio.  He is a medical graduate of the Gandhi Medical College in India and served as a Research Associate at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan before completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Weiss Hospital of Chicago.  Dr. Gaddam completed postdoctoral fellowships in Adult and Interventional Cardiology and was Chief Fellow at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is Board Certified in Adult General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology and holds membership with the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians/American Society of Internal Medicine, American Heart Association and Society for Coronary Angiography and Interventions.  Dr. Gaddam has authored various publications and articles including those for the Journal of Investigative Medicine, the Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society and the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He is also part owner of Srisata, Inc. which specializes in Revenue Management Billing.

 

Gabriella Neff,

Ms. Neff brings over 17 years of healthcare experience with a comprehensive background in coding, revenue cycle and regulatory compliance. Ms. Neff earned her Associate in Applied Science degree in Health Information Management (HIM) through Stark State University and her Bachelor of Science degree in HIM from the University of Cincinnati. She holds multiple certifications through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) and other organizations including: Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer (CHCO), Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHA), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) and Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC). Currently, Ms. Neff is a Research Compliance Officer for H.Lee Moffit Cancer Center and also serves as the Compliance Department Liaison to all research operations personnel, leadership, and partnering compliance professionals at the University of South Florida.

 
Heather Skelton,

Ms. Skelton focuses her boutique law practice in health care law specializing in medical office compliance, practice management and representing physicians and specializing in managed care contracting. Her contributions as a Board Member relates to both regulatory compliance oversight of our distance learning programs.  Her expertise includes health care regulations, employment law, and business law, including partnerships and dissolutions.  Heather graduated with honors from Tulane Law School and the University of Chapel Hill with a degree in business. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, and the North Carolina Society of Healthcare Attorneys.
Karri Roskam,

Ms. Roskam brings over two decades of multi-practice and Revenue Cycle Management experience to the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC).  She is a Board Certified Medical Practice Executive and holds four certifications through AIHC.  Her expertise in Billing, Corporate Compliance, Auditing, Collections, Practice Administration and Consulting, enhances her ability to contribute as an active member on the Board. Karri is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC). She has served as a former facilitator to many of AIHC’s Classroom training programs and has provided support and guidance to many AIHC students over the years. Her current position is as an External Auditor for a Non-Profit Acute Healthcare and Behavioral Health hospital.

 

Mary T. Sullivan,

Ms. Sullivan is an attorney licensed in New York and Texas who is presently of counsel to McCue-Pauley & Associates, P.C in Dallas, Texas. She graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in 1981 with a B.S. in education, and received her J.D. in 1984 from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. Before relocating to Texas in 2000, Mary practiced in Buffalo, New York for 15 years, where she handled personal injury actions for plaintiffs, as well as family law and criminal matters.   Mary has practiced in the areas of medical and legal malpractice defense and health care law as well as practice criminal defense, and has represented physicians and other health care providers charged with Medicare/Medicaid fraud. Mary is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Western District of New York, and for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas. In 2003 and 2004, she was recognized by the Dallas Bar Association as an Outstanding Volunteer for her work in the East and West Legal Clinics, and was featured as one of the “Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program’s Finest” in the May 2004 issue of Headnotes, a publication of the Dallas Bar Association.
